NEWS RELEASE
School Board of Directors Recognize
David Hoskin

On Monday, September 24, the Auburn School Board of Directors will recognize David Hoskin, school librarian at Pioneer Elementary School, for promoting the love of reading to his students.  Mr. Hoskin has been the librarian at Pioneer for five years; three of those years serving on a part-time basis. He has attended the University of Washington earning both teaching and librarian credentials; Evergreen State College for a liberal arts degree; and the Cornish School of Arts for studies in music.  For 25 years, Mr. Hoskin has been a professional musician, teaching and playing music.  He continues to perform in a variety of musical settings and teaches music after school and on weekends to local students.  Mr. Hoskin’s decision to become a librarian was motivated by a love of books.   “I have always been a book person, and I even have a small collection of modern first editions.  I also have an interest in poetry, both writing and collecting.”

Pioneer Elementary principal, Liz Know says, “Not only does Mr. Hoskin inspire students to want to read, he inspires teachers with his dazzling use of technology as well. He has helped teachers at all grade levels to develop exciting and engaging lessons, which integrate the teaching of social studies with the use of technology.  Last year, he worked with all fourth graders to produce Power Point presentations on various states and with all fifth graders to produce Power Point presentations on the Civil War.  His enthusiasm and flexibility are an inspiration to all staff members.  He is always cheerful, positive, and willing to help with any project that contributes to students learning.  He is truly a great teacher!”
