Diane Collier to be Recognized by
Auburn School Board of Directors
On Monday, September 22, the Auburn School Board of Directors will recognize Alpac Elementary School principal, Diane Collier, for her outstanding educational leadership. For 35 years, Ms. Collier for has served in Auburn School District as a classroom teacher, reading/language arts specialist, staff development specialist, junior high assistant principal, and elementary school principal. Her expertise and knowledge of education has been most valuable to Auburn School District students throughout her career with the district. Her willingness to step up to challenges and change has made her a constant leader in each of her schools’ communities. In 1992-93, Ms. Collier became the principal of Alpac Elementary School. The school had always played an important role in the history of the communities of Algona and Pacific and the continuation of strong leadership was essential. Ms. Collier stepped to the helm with her inimitable team-building skills and soon had the school cruising on a firm course toward continually improving student learning. Her support of her staff and encouragement of community involvement has ensured that Alpac Elementary has remained the hub of the communities of Algona and Pacific. “I have always had wonderful staff with whom to work,” said Ms. Collier. “Alpac has a good feeling to it when people walk in and that is because of the great staff.” Deputy superintendent, Dr. Kip Herren, observes that “Ms. Collier’s unwavering professionalism, steady-as-she-goes personality, dignified way of interacting with staff, and friendly demeanor endear her to, not only staff and students, but the entire community.
