AHS Invites Community to Celebrate at
GRAMMY Event

Auburn High School extends an invitation to the community to attend a special GRAMMY event on Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.  This gala concert is to celebrate the presentation of the prestigious GRAMMY award for excellence in a high school music program to Auburn High School’s music department for the third consecutive year.  Of the more than 20,000 high school music programs nationwide, Auburn High School was chosen as one of only 50 schools to receive this recognition.  “This is a prideful moment and the GRAMMY Award event will allow us to thank those individuals who have made it possible,” said Auburn High School principal, Randy Taylor.  The Auburn High School’s music directors: Kevin Paustian, band director; Dale Johnson, orchestra director; and Kandy Gilbert, choir director, have designed a musical program showcasing orchestra, band, and choir students.  Auburn High School directors will present the GRAMMY award to a community member who is representative of the broad support of the school’s music program.

Auburn High School music alumni, their families, music teachers who teach in elementary and middle schools that feed Auburn High School, and Auburn High School staff members are among the groups from the community that will be honored that evening.

The GRAMMY Foundation, a non-profit arm of the Recording Academy, is dedicated to advancing music and arts-based education across the country and ensuring access to America’s rich cultural legacy.

For more information, contact Auburn High School principal, Randy Taylor, at (253) 931-4880.
