NEWS RELEASE
Auburn School Board of Directors Implement
Paperless Board Meetings

The Auburn School District Board of Directors is using the Internet to enhance communication with the public.  The new electronic method will replace the paper method of compiling, printing, binding, and distributing board documents.  By making meeting agendas and curriculum documents available on the district website, the district will be able to distribute documents associated with a board meeting more quickly and efficiently, while saving paper.

Electronic distribution will not only save time and resources, it will also provide public access to information that board members use to make decisions.  Through the district web site, the public can view the agenda and the curriculum documents associated with the meeting.  This will allow interested parties to review the information prior to the meeting.  After the meeting, the individuals can review the minutes to find what actions were taken by the board.  Documents associated with the meeting are automatically archived and can be accessed by the meeting dates.

Auburn School District has published district policies and procedures on-line as well.  The public can now review the policies and procedures on-line, ensuring that staff and the community have access to the most up-to-date information.

The electronic school board agenda and minutes can be accessed via the district’s web site at www.auburn.wednet.edu.  For questions regarding the new paperless board meetings, contact Mike Newman, associate superintendent of business and operations, at (253) 931-4930.
