Auburn School Board to Recognize Valley Kiwanis Club as
September Gold Star Volunteer Award Recipient

On Monday, September 13, the Auburn School Board of Directors will recognize the Valley Kiwanis Club as the September Gold Star Volunteer Award for its extraordinary support of Auburn students.  For fifteen years, Valley Kiwanis Club has honored eight middle school students each month of the school year.  This program gives recognition to outstanding middle school students and their parents at a club breakfast meeting.  The students are praised by their principal and a teacher, have their photo taken for the newspapers, and receive a certificate with their photo.  The Valley Kiwanis take great pleasure and pride in honoring these excellent middle school students.  They also participate in many other volunteer activities in the community such as volunteering at many Children’s Home Society events and preschool and daycare reading programs.  Kiwanis always support the weekly community dinner at a local church and attend community fundraiser events such as the Auburn Food Bank breakfast.  Financially, the Valley Kiwanis generously support programs that better the lives of children.  They also provide substantial scholarships each spring to Auburn School District graduates.  The Valley Kiwanis support the high school Key Clubs and the middle school Builders Clubs to encourage service to students.  This club, which is part of the Auburn Circle of Service, truly represents the Kiwanian mission of “Serving the children of the world.”
