NEWS RELEASE
Dick Scobee--Brown's Buzz-Cuts

Dick Scobee Elementary School will be holding a fundraising event, Brown’s Buzz-Cut Night, on Friday, September 23 at 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to raise funds for the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk in hopes of earning another Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) for the school. Mr. Brown, the principal, does not have much hair and is looking for students, staff, and parents to join him through participation in this event. Four hair stylists from Gene Juarez Beauty Salons will be donating their services to the event and will buzz-cut anyone’s hair for a donation of a dollar or more.

“This is going to be a really fun way for our school to make one more push towards reaching our goal,” said Brown. “Not only are we helping an amazing organization, but we are also making our school a safer place for students, staff, and parents alike.”

The school needs to raise a total of $2,500 in order to earn the AED. One AED was earned by the staff, students, and parents last year as well by participation in the Heart Walk sponsored by the American Heart Association and Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle. The Heart Walk will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at Qwest Field in Seattle.
