Rainier Middle School Student Selected to
Participate in WMEA Junior All-State Orchestra

Svetlana Spatarel, an eighth grader at Rainier Middle School, received top honors by being selected to participate in the second annual Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA) Junior All-State West Orchestra. Svetlana is an experienced violinist.

Performances will be held on October 28 at the Washington Performing Arts Center in Olympia. The West Orchestra will be conducted by Paul-Elliott Cobbs, conductor of the Everett Symphony.

Many professional musicians credit their All-State experience as a factor for choosing music as a career. Some of the more well-known Washingtonians who have participated in WMEA All-State performances include Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist and columnist David Horsey, former Spokane County Sheriff Mark Sterk, and jazz saxophonist Kenny G.
