Gildo Rey Elementary School Awarded Page Ahead Grant

Gildo Rey Elementary School in Auburn was awarded a Page Ahead grant.

The grant will provide over 4,250 books for all students of Gildo Rey to take home to read with siblings and families. The home reading will help children increase their vocabulary, improve their reading comprehension and communicate what they have read to others.

Page Ahead is a children’s literacy program committed to provide new books and develop reading activities that empower at-risk children. Page Ahead serves programs that clearly demonstrate that at least 60% of children served are at economic or educational risk of not developing their full reading potential.
