Terminal Park Elementary School Wins First Book Grant

Terminal Park Elementary School in Auburn was awarded a First Book grant.

The grant will supply 700 books for only 25 cents each to all students of Terminal Park. Students will be able to read and own their first new books. The program helps to encourage home reading, which will help children increase their vocabulary, improve their reading comprehension and communicate what they have read to others.

First Book is a nonprofit organization with a single mission: to give children from low-income families the opportunity to read and own their first new books. First Book provides an ongoing supply of new books to children participating in community-based mentoring, tutoring, and family literacy programs.
