Heart of Auburn
fundraiser to provide defibrillators for Auburn Schools VERY successful. Funds raised purchased that night purchased
over 40 defibrillators, enough for one for every school.
Treasurer's report:
- Reported
deposits of fundraiser. Income this
month was $323 membership dues of which about $259 goes to Auburn Council,
$370 from the sale of pizza at open house.
- Expenses
this month were $311 for pizza and pop for open house (lots of pop and
drinks left over for Bingo night), $191 for office supplies (mostly
paper), $58 in the teacher classroom fund, $125 Interurban Art Program for
yearly program fees, and $69.68 for 200 tulip and daffodil bulbs and other
beautification items.
Secretary report:
- Thank
you to all the new volunteers who have stepped up to chair a
committee. We have a full board!!
- Results
of first of year surveys given to staff at the beginning of the year. Art
program and family nights top priority, followed by book fair, assemblies
and field trips.
Unfinished Business:
- Kathy
Soule memorial plaque. Need input for wording on plaque to
finish project. Kathy
was very active in PTA and reading instruction
at Terminal Park Elementary before her death from cancer. The memorial is located in front of the
school and consists of a tree, flowers and granite pavers.
- Field
trip budget: As the $2000 field
trip budget is insufficient for each classroom to go on a field trip. The PTA
approved a motion to allocate more money for that purpose and has renamed
the field trip budget an educational support fund. Motion #1: It was moved and seconded that we
allocate an amount equivalent to $12.00 per student as of October 1 to the
field trip budget to be renamed the educational support fund. The fund will be managed by grade
level. We are hoping this will allow
the students to participate in field trips and some supplemental
curriculum materials as the need arises. This generous increase in funding (the
previous amount per student was $4.82 per student) will require using
$2980 of checking account reserve and will result in additional
fundraisers throughout the year.
New Business:
- Volunteer
form prize drawing: Tracey
Skorniakoff winner of $20 in
merchandise from fall catalog.
- Mr.
Carstens will soon be dying his hair
blonde as a result of a promise he made to the students if they reached
$10,000 in sales for our fall fundraiser.
- The
winning class of Sydney
the Snake from the fall fundraiser is Mrs.
Andersen's class. They had over 50% participation in our
fall fundraiser. Ms.
McIntyre's class was also in the drawing
which was for classes with more than 50% participation in the fall
fundraiser.
