In October 2015, HS ELA Department Chairs and the Assistant Director of College & Career Readiness met and determined to review the current power standards for potential revision in light of implementation of newly adopted curriculum, experience with the new state required testing (SBA), and collective teaching experience under the framework provided by Common Core State Standards. HS ELA Department Chairs were asked in October to elicit feedback over the course of the 2015-16 school year to inform potential revision.
CCSS Power Standards Review
HS ELA Department Chairs reviewed and revised Power Standards in April of 2016. The group-accepted criteria for revision included endurance, leverage, and readiness for continued learning. See Power Standards documents Revised Spring 2016 for specifics. The consensus model of decision making (thumbs up, sideway, or down) was used to make decisions during the meeting.
