Yes — if you’re a student you can work at Auburn School District Pool (ASD Pool).

Most of our staff are current Auburn School District students or local college students. To lifeguard with the Red Cross, individuals must be at least 15 years old. Our schedule is primarily outside of regular school hours, making it student-athlete friendly!

A portion of our staff work seasonally, aligned with our four annual seasons: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. Swimming lessons are offered during Winter, Spring, and Summer, while lifeguarding shifts are available year-round.

"Not a problem! If you are certified through an eligible program, you can take an equivalency course to align your training with American Red Cross standards. Please contact our management team for more details."

Yes and no. If your certificate has expired within the last 30 days, you can take a Review course (about 9 hours) and, upon completion, receive a valid certificate. If your certificate has been expired for more than 30 days, you’ll need to take the full Lifeguard and CPR/AED/First Aid course. No worries—we offer both options!

Teaching swimming lessons can be a lot of fun, even if it feels challenging at first! Our management team works hard to create lifeguarding opportunities, but those shifts can be competitive. The great news is that swimming lessons offer the most opportunities for new staff—there’s room for multiple instructors in each class, so it’s easier to pick up hours while gaining valuable experience. If you’re excited to learn and teach, swimming lessons are a fantastic way to jump in and grow your skills!

We really prefer for our instructors to teach for the full season so our students can have the most consistent and quality instruction possible. For special circumstances, reach out to our management team - we're here to help!
