What is SUN Bucks EBT?
SUN Bucks benefit is a one -time payment of $120 per eligible child during summer break for groceries. Families can use it along with benefits like SNAP/WIC and other summer meal programs. Receiving SUN Bucks will not affect families’ immigration status.
Eligible students will receive a DSHS approval notice and a SUN Bucks EBT card via U.S. Mail. DSHS plans to issue benefits July through the end of August 2026.
Who is Eligible?
- Students who submit a qualifying CNEEB Application.
- Students that are Determined eligible through SUN Bucks (DSHS) Application.
- Students who are Directly Certified already participating in SNAP/TANF/Medicaid programs, etc.
Do you need to take action?
You will need to apply if you are not automatically qualified and have not yet submitted a CNEEB Application.
You may fill out & turn in the CNEEB Application to your school main office or submit online via Skyward before May 20, 2026. ASD will accept CNEEB Applications until final deadline June 3,2026.
Applying early ensures faster processing and benefits. Students who do not qualify automatically and did not submit a CNEEB Application before June 3, 2026 can apply directly via SUN Bucks (DSHS) Application available online in English & Spanish. DSHS Applications will be accepted through Aug. 31, 2026.

In preparation for 2026 SUN Bucks please check & update the mailing address listed for
Household Family 1 in Skyward address on file will be used to deliver SUN Bucks EBT Card.
If your address changes during the summer, please update your address directly with DSHS SUN Bucks contact center. ASD does not distribute or manage SUN Bucks EBT cards.

Need a copy of your Free/Reduced Eligibility Letter?
You can get a copy of your Free/Reduced Eligibility letter by calling 253-931-4972 or email your request to: Childnutrition@auburn.wednet.edu
Be sure to check your email for a copy of your eligibility letter. The subject line is: ASD Child Nutrition Services - School Meal Information
Another Option: Child Nutrition Information letter is available in Skyward Family Access. You may print it or save it to your computer.
Please log into your Family Access (see links below and screenshots), go to your student’s name, navigate to the Portfolio tile, and click on the download arrow icon under the Attachments to print the letter.

Throughout the year, we perform Direct Certification matches for meal benefits. We are required to conduct six DC matches annually.

Child Nutrition Mission Statement
Our Child Nutrition department's mission is to support students and families by offering nutritionally sound, healthy, well-balanced meals every day. Proper nutrition is the key to student learning and academic success. Nourishing breakfast and lunches are available at 24 schools each day, prepared on site. We serve over 6,000 breakfasts and 10,000 lunches each day in our district.
We offer a wonderful variety of fruits and vegetables on our salad bars. Whole grains, proteins, and a variety of low fat milk choices come with the salad bars each day. All meals are trans-fat free and meet the current USDA requirements regulating calories, fats, sugar, nutrients and serving size. Every school offers a variety of entrée choices and options on the salad bar.
