2026–2027 Administrative Intern Program

The 2026–2027 Administrative Intern application is now open. This program supports aspiring school administrators by providing meaningful, hands-on leadership experiences within our district.

During the open application window, candidates may apply to be considered for placement as an Administrative Intern for the 2026–2027 school year.

Eligibility & Program Notes

  • The Administrative Intern Program is open to Auburn School District employees only.

  • The application period typically opens each December/January for placement in the upcoming school year.

AWSP Grant Requirement

All candidates that work in a position that necessitate substitute release are required to apply for the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP) Administrative Intern Grant as part of the application process.

  • Information about the grant, eligibility criteria, and application timelines can be found on the AWSP website.

  • Candidates are responsible for reviewing AWSP requirements and submitting grant materials directly to AWSP.

Administrative Preparation Programs (Ongoing Information)

Enrollment in a principal or administrator preparation program is a requirement of the Administrative Intern application.

Candidates who:

  • are in a position that requires substitute release time, and

  • are required to apply for the AWSP Administrative Intern Grant

should be aware that, to be eligible for the grant, they must be enrolled in a PESB-approved principal preparation program.

  • Western Washington University (WWU) – Educational Administration

  • Washington State University (WSU) – Educational Leadership

  • Gonzaga University – Educational Administration

  • Seattle Pacific University (SPU) – Educational Leadership

  • City University of Seattle (CityU) – Educational Leadership

  • Western Governors University (WGU) – Educational Leadership
