What is the World Language Test?

World Language Competency testing was established as a way for students who have proficiency in a language other than English to demonstrate proficiency on a nationally recognized test and receive competency credits on their high school transcript.  At the same time, the Washington State Seal of Biliteracy was established as a way to recognize high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in one or more world languages in addition to English.

Auburn School District was an early implementer of this opportunity, beginning in 2014, promoting the opportunity among students who had acquired skills through home language experiences.  Since then, hundreds of ASD students have earned competency credits.

What you need to know for taking the World Language Test!

If you are absent on the day you are scheduled to test, you will have a $5.00 dollar fee added to your student account.  If you know you will be absent the day before the test, please speak with your school coordinator to reschedule and avoid the fine.  You should be able to finish the test in the 3 hrs given.  

ALTA tests - There are two parts to your test.  You have 30 days in which to finish the speaking section with your school coordinator.  

STAMP tests - There are two or four sections, depending on the language.  You have 3 hours to complete the four sections.
