  • ARHS is a recipient of the 2013 Washington Achievement Award.  We are being honored for High Progress!!!

    WAAW

This is an extraordinary accomplishment and is a direct reflection of the hard work of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the support and guidance of our parents. ARHS’ award is well deserved. In the past four years, we have implemented several improvements that have impacted our students’ success.  Not limited to Flight Program, Recapture, Curriculum Maps and Common Assessments, Work Completed in PLCs, Book Studies, Common Grading Practices, Implementation of 15 Fixes, Professional Development, Retakes, APEX, and your flexibility and hard work!

The Washington Achievement Awards are sponsored by the Washington State Board of Education and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. They celebrate Washington’s top-performing schools and recognize achievement in many categories. This highly-selective award is based on our school’s (three consecutive years) performance on the Achievement Index and uses criteria set by the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) flexibility waiver.

  • Auburn Riverside selects Kevin Olson as Head Boys Basketball Coach

    Proven coach to lead Ravens

AUBURN, Wash. (April 3, 2014) – The Auburn Riverside High School Athletic program is pleased to announce the selection of Kevin Olson as Head Boys Basketball Coach.

With a successful run through the SPSL as head coach at Decatur High School the past 14 years, Olson has an extensive basketball background.  During that time his teams have competed at the highest level, winning three South Puget Sound League championships had nine West Central District entries, winning the 2007 WCD championship and had six state tournament appearances including four trips to the Tacoma Dome and a run to the state semifinals in 2008. He is also a two time SPSL coach of the year.

Along with team success, individual players have thrived in Coach Olson’s system.  He’s coached 2 SPSL MVPs, had over 30 players recognized as all league selections with six named to the Senior All-State game.  More than 25 players have moved on to play college basketball during his tenure.

“I am excited to bring my experience as a head coach to Auburn Riverside and am expecting great things for the Riverside basketball program in 20014-15,” said Olson.

Olson takes over a program on the rise this past year finishing 5th in the SPSL 4A and qualifying for the WCD tournament.  The Ravens will compete in the SPSL 3A next year.

“Coach Olson’s brings a remarkable combination of experience and proven success to Auburn Riverside. We are very excited to have him join our staff,” ARHS Athletic Director Doug Aubert said.

Kevin Olson will also join the teaching staff at Auburn Riverside High School.
