Hello to all our Terminal Park Families!

I wanted to reintroduce myself as the new principal of Terminal Park. I am in my 35th year in education. I started my career in Sedro-Woolley, WA. I started my career in Sedro-Woolley, WA. I started my career in Sedro-Woolley, WA. I taught kindergarten, 1st grade, Title teacher in 4th grade, special education teacher at 6th grade, for a total of 12 years. I moved to the Auburn School District in 2004 and worked as a special education teacher at Gildo Rey, and then became the principal of Gildo Rey. In 2012-13 I moved to Lakeland Hills where I was the principal for the past 11 years. I have loved all of my experiences in education and am thrilled to be the next principal at Terminal Park! I plan to be here for at least the next 8+ years.

I share the vision for our school which is to embrace our diverse community where everyone is held to high expectations and has equitable access, while promoting academic growth and inspiring life-long success. I want every student and family to feel welcomed and valued. Through collaboration with families and the community we will strive to build a supportive and safe school environment. I am hoping each of you will join us for celebrations, family events and activities throughout the year and we are always looking for volunteers to support the work we do. Volunteers can help teachers prepare materials for learning, can read with students, help with math facts, and other activities. If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to your child’s teacher and let them know. We are also looking for volunteers who can help monitor our playground and help with school patrol. All volunteers need to pass a background check before they can volunteer. Applications can be found here: https://www.auburn.wednet.edu/Page/1115

I have an extensive background in emergency preparedness and will be training the school staff and students on what to do during emergency situations. We will be having emergency drills every month to practice responding to different emergency situations.

We are also going to start a PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) and need parents who are interested in board positions. PTOs are a group of parents and teachers who work together to support students and schools. PTOs can provide funds, programs, and resources to enrich students' education, support teachers and staff, and organize family events. Some examples of PTO events include field trips, cultural celebrations, and teacher appreciation week. We already have our APEX fundraiser scheduled for the year to help us raise funds for field trips, etc. Please reach out to our office if you are interested in helping us get things going!

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns or you have ideas on how we can make Terminal Park be the best school in Auburn! It takes all of us to build a strong and vibrant school community! I look forward to meeting you and working with your children. It’s going to be a great year!

    In partnership,

    Mrs. Barlow
