Congratulations to the girl’s water polo team on their playoff run.  Friday night Auburn ran into a tough Lakes team, who finished 4th place at regionals.  Auburn lost that one 3 to 13.  On Saturday Auburn rebounded with a thrilling double overtime win over Mountainview 9 to 8.  Next Auburn played the eventual 3rd place finisher at regionals, Enumclaw.  Auburn had not much left in the tank after the Mountainview game.  Auburn lost 6 to 14.

The Rainier Rugby Club took state titles on Saturday, May 21st with varsity, junior varsity and the 7th/8th grade teams all taking first place. Congratulations to JV Champs-Mason Ruffin, Hope Tuamoheloa (Tooo—uh—moe—hello-uh), Semisi (sem-ee-see) Kalaniuvalu (Kalani-ooh-val-ooh), Donray Tatios (Tah-tee-os), Santino Munoz and Calvin Liulamaga (lee-ooh-la-magah) and Varsity Champions-Josh Clifton, Josh Grissinger, EJ Brown, Brandon Malaeulu (ma-lah-eee-ooh-loo),  Halleluia Tiauli (Tee—ah-ooh-lee) and Obeh (oh-bee) Muao (moo—ow).

Congratulations are due to our jazz band and some of the specific students in the jazz band for their amazing performance at the CWU jazz festival recently. Jazz bands from around the state attended this two day festival and our band was considered among the best according to the adjudicators. Several specific students received recognition including:

Outstanding Musicianship Awards presented to Carl Hennings, Ruta Faifaiese, Mikah Loomis, and Forrest Schmeling. That is the most we have ever received at this festival!!

Above and beyond that, two of our students received music scholarships at the festival due to their playing displayed there: Carl Hennings will be attending CWU as a music major beginning in the fall and he received a $1000 music scholarship from the jazz department towards his tuition for his outstanding playing, the only tuition scholarship given out that day at the festival!!!

Additionally, Ruta Faifaiese was offered a scholarship to attend the CWU Jazz Camp in late June, which she will be attending. Also the only scholarship of its kind given that day.
