Welcome to the ASD Health ServicesThe Auburn School District Health Services teams are a resource to assist in promoting student health. Our School Nurses are more than just healthcare providers; they are advocates, caregivers, and educators. Please contact your child's School Nurse to discuss any health condition that could impact their participation in their educational experience. Thank you for entrusting your student's health needs to us during their school day and learning experience.Licensed Registered Nurses (RN)School nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well-being, academic success and life-long achievement and health of students. To that end, school nurses facilitate positive student responses to normal development; promote health and safety; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management services; and actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self-advocacy and learning. (NASN 2010).Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN)The Auburn School District utilizes LPNs to assist our students with high level medical needs who need licensure care at all times in the learning environment. There is a formal process that students go through to apply for this resource, including an evaluation completed by the School Nurse.Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (Health Tech Para)Our health rooms have a team that helps respond to daily needs. Under the direction and delegation of the School Nurse, a Health Tech Para also helps to assist our students with their daily needs. The Health Tech Para and the Nurse work closely together to ensure a safe and inviting environment where students can go if they are not feeling well or have a health concern. The Health Tech Para is able to provide basic first aid and is trained in CPR. Their role also encompasses other tasks that are delegated by the School Nurse. Any questions or concerns regarding your student's health will be brought to your School Nurse for follow-up if needed.

Safety Study Hall - Dept of Health
The Washington State Department of Health launched the Safety Study Hall website, a place for schools, students, and families to learn more about safety topics. The all-new website offers prevention strategies, answers to common questions, and highlights resources related to substance use, and the safe storage of prescription and over-the-counter medications, firearms, and ammunition.
