5/25/22: Message from the Superintendent: Texas Tragedy
As you are aware, there was a mass school shooting yesterday at an elementary school in Texas. This event follows tragic, hateful and racist mass shootings in Buffalo and Orange County. These tragedies are heartbreaking for all of us personally, and for our country. We cannot allow hate. We must get serious as a country about gun safety. I am both outraged and sad, once again. An incident like the one yesterday also sparks questions about school safety. Student and staff safety is our number one priority.

3/10/22: Message from Dr. Spicciati
As you may know, per the Washington State Department of Health, mask wearing will be optional for most students and staff effective March 12. We think this is an important step toward improving educational outcomes and social, emotional, and mental health outcomes for students and staff. This opportunity comes as community COVID rates are low. I want to personally acknowledge that many staff, students, and families still have concerns and encourage continued mask wearing for all who wish.

We are in a different place in the pandemic than we were when the mask requirement was implemented. Vaccines are widely available for anyone ages 5 and up who desires to have one.

01/14/22: Message from Superintendent Spicciati
Thank you for all you are doing to support your student during these challenging times. Since the beginning of the school year, our two goals have been to maximize in-person learning and minimize the spread of the virus. Achieving these goals has been challenging with the current virus transmission. Our strong desire is to remain in-person.

In November, the ASD Board of Directors asked the community to make suggestions for the name of Auburn’s newest elementary. The new school will open with its own student attendance area in September and is located at 13002 SE 304th ST.
