Thank you for your interest in the Auburn School District Peer Model program!
Research supports the concept of having children with identified disabilities participate in learning opportunities with their non-disabled peers. In order to increase the variety of opportunities for this to happen, the Auburn School District has developed a program for preschool-age children to participate in classes at all of our Early Childhood sites. The Tuition-Based, Peer Model Preschool Program is part of the Auburn School District Early Childhood Education (ECE) program. Families are responsible for transportation, bus transportation is not provided. We are excited to offer opportunities for children to participate in an enriched learning environment focused on developing communication and language, social, self-help, motor, and cognitive skills. Early literacy and math skills are emphasized and align with kindergarten curriculum. Students also learn leadership and helping skills by modeling appropriate play and communication for their class-mates with developmental delays. Thank you for considering our program.
