- PLCs - In Auburn, teachers connect on scheduled Mondays to align on assessments, state standards, curriculum and more through a Professional Learning Communities (PLC+) model.
- CEL5D+ - Auburn utilizes the Center for Educational Leadership 5D+ Rubric for Instructional Growth and Teacher Evaluation. This Instructional Framework is derived from an extensive study of research on the core elements that constitute quality instruction developed by the University of Washington Center for Educational Leadership.
- Athletics/Activities - Auburn Schools Athletics and Activities organizes a wide array of programs, from camps and theater for elementary students to High School 3A/4A sports.
- Student Traffic Court - The Auburn Police Department, King County courts and Auburn Schools have developed a unique opportunity for students cited for minor traffic infractions to take responsibility for their actions while reducing the impact on their new driving records.
- PeachJar - PeachJar is an email flyer program that serves community non-profit organizations that choose to send information to families through email communication.
For more details, view the expanded information listed below each section.

PeachJar E-Flyers
The district has partnered with PeachJar to send school and community approved flyers to our family's email address and post them online. Many of our neighboring districts are also using PeachJar and our research has found this is a much more successful way for community partners to communicate with families about events and activities that are available for their student(s).
For details and distribution information, visit our school flyers website.

Instructional Framework - CEL5D+
An instructional framework is a common language and a vision of what quality teaching looks like. All districts are required to select one framework to use when evaluating their teachers. The Auburn School District has selected to use CEL5D+ Instructional Framework.
Click here to log in for more information, schedules and resources to support the CEL5D+ Instructional Framework and corresponding evaluation processes and procedures for ASD. If you have any trouble logging into or accessing your Google Drive your building ITSS/TSS, mentor or administrator can help you. If you continue to have trouble, you can also connect with one of our Technology Instructional TOSAs. Find your school's TOSA here.

Professional Learning Communities (PLC)
Auburn School District uses the PLC+ model for collaboration. The PLC+ model has the cross-cutting value of equity which provides a through line to both culturally responsive practices and high expectations. PLC+ is also anchored to the research-based instructional practices from Visible Learning. PLC+ puts equity in action and provides our staff with a familiar, but upgraded framework to move their own learning forward, so they can ensure they meet the needs of each and every student.
As school staff are improving student learning through PLCs, students will attend all of their classes within the shortened school day; breakfast and lunch will be served at all schools; and buses will run one hour late to accommodate this time. Auburn School District has dedicated 60 minute late start Mondays providing staff with the time to work in PLCs.
This will allow our teachers to:
-
Align curriculum with the state standards for each course and grade level
-
Examine students' work
-
Create common assessments or tests
-
Analyze students' testing data to determine goals to improve each student's learning
-
Identify students that need additional time and support to meet standards or move beyond standards

Student Traffic Court
Auburn School District student drivers that have been cited for minor traffic infractions, such as speeding, are offered the opportunity to take responsibility for their actions while keeping their new driving records clean. Qualified Auburn School District students are allowed to appear before a Student Court (instead of District Court) and receive a penalty of community service hours in lieu of a monetary penalty. If these hours are performed successfully, the infraction will be dismissed. After all procedures and guidelines have been completed, the case is then formally dismissed by the District Court and will not appear as a violation on the defendant’s driving record. Court sessions are held monthly in the ASD Administration Building. All penalties are a certain number of community service hours depending on the nature of the infraction. No monetary fines involved.
To Qualify:
-
Ticket must have been issued by the Auburn Police Department.
-
Request a court hearing and then a referral to Student Traffic Court from the King County District Court in Auburn.
-
Good for one time only!
